Should I use my bike tail light in a flashing or steady mode?
Both have the same output level, but as flashing light seems to be brighter to our eyes in comparison to a steady light, it grabs our attention faster. With flashing lights, it is more difficult to estimate the distance and speed than with steady lights.
During daytime riding, when there's a lot of natural light, you can use a flashing mode in order to be seen faster and to grab attention from the other drivers in the traffic. When riding at night we recommend to use a non-flashing mode, as with a flashing mode, especially if it is a high lumen output, you can easily disorient oncoming traffic. Furthermore, your speed and position can be more difficult to estimate by others in the traffic.
Rear bike lights are usually less bright and more convenient to use in a flashing mode at night than the bicycle head lights. Whatever mode you will use, comply with your country's regulations about flashing lights, if there is any.
